Environment

Landscapes

DSC_0272.JPGDSC_0286.JPG

The first of the environments are landscapes. What prompted me to capture these imaged is because of the high contrast between the dark, blue grey sky and the green grass, both being cool colours however the grass makes the image feel warm. The focal point for both is the grass. The textures and the patterns are natural and flowing.

Buildings

DSC_0294.JPGDSC_0290.JPGDSC_0346.JPGDSC_0370.JPG

The buildings are all neutral colours making the images all very neutral with the occasional bit of bright colour. There are a lot of manmade patterns in the images, mostly ordered and horizontal but some random. The only natural patterns and shapes that occur are caused by the plants and sky in two of the images.

Animals

Mammals with paws

The main reason for me taking these pictures is because I love fluffy animals. The focal point for every image is the animals and majority of the composition is on a vertical line, towards the left. Only one thats not on the left vertical is the first image which is on the right horizontal. The rabbits are very contrasted against the grass, which helps bring focus straight to them. The environment around the animals is cold while the animals themselves appear warms, which also contrasts.

Mammals with hooves

Like the pawed animals, these hoofed animals are warm and natural coloured however these animals are also earthy coloured.

Urban Landscapes

The first image is that of a swan

  • The white and blue contrast each other strongly, this helps bring the viewers attention to the swan
  • The image appears to have a filter on it, either emboss or negative. This gives a very unnatural feeling to the image
  • The body and wings are very symmetrical however the head is turned to the side, this brings about a sort of flow to the swan and thus calmness
  • Overall I quite like this image, it’s chilling and creepy yet soothing and calm

untitled twins (joined), Dan EstabrookIMG_20180910_151509.jpgThis is definitely one of the more chilling of the more chilling images, it is of two men, their faces obscured

  • The fact that their faces are obscured makes me feel that these two could be anyone, for some reason this is worrying to me as I do not know who they are. I can not see a visible face and that is making me nervous
  • The only thing in focus is the hand by the side of the left man. This could be that the hand, and the man on the right which one can only assume that the hand is from, is important.
  • While the man on the left has his face blurry, the man on the right appears to have had his face removed by perhaps being burnt out.
  • The man on left is facing forwards while the man on the right is turned to the side slight, towards the other man. This throws the symmetry of the image off as well as the hand near the left man. This makes one feel very uneasy.
